This year Brotherhood is sponsoring Design Days at Bornblum Jewish Community School. On November 1st the entire school will take a break from their regular curriculum and spend the day using design thinking to problem solve. Their lesson will stem from the book entitled Miss Rumphius, which talks about a woman who spreads lupine flowers all over to make the world a more beautiful place. Students in each class will be challenged to come up with a design project that will beautify the school's campus. Students might come up with a mural or installation; it could also be a plan for recycling or a student club. There is no telling where the kids' imaginations will lead them.
Volunteers from all types of occupations will be welcome on campus to help with brainstorming and design. When you sign up, please include your availability on 11/1 along with your area(s) of expertise. To volunteer you do not need to have any expertise in design thinking, just be able to encourage the children during the process. Contact Brotherhood with any questions. The students love having special guests help out in their classrooms.
